Jeff Basile
The
hallmark of Jeff Basile's music and bass playing is his eclecticism.
A multi-faceted musician, composer, and musicologist, Jeffs
career began early at the age of 17. After studying contrabass with
world renowned musical pioneer Bertram Turetzky, Jeff joined the
San Diego Symphony Orchestra. In subsequent years he left the orchestra
to study world music and jazz. He has since performed primarily
as a bass player and notably on many ethnic style instruments such
as the bandolon, quinton, and balalaika. Jeff has performed with
many notable musicians and joined the Peter Pupping Quartet in 1997
bringing a strong eclectic influence to the group. His recordings
include a bass project titled "Alterations Gardens" and
recently recorded with the Peter Pupping Quartet on the album "Samba
Nights".
