William Wilson
William records and performs regularly
with the Peter Pupping Quartet and appears on the quartet’s Samba
Nights, Embarcadero releases and on Pupping’s Christmas
release Gloria, An Acoustic Guitar Christmas. Television
and radio appearances include KPBS radio as well as CBS, FOX, and
KUSI television stations in San Diego. In addition to his work with
the Peter Pupping Quartet, William also appears in a classical guitar
& voice duo with soprano Mary Ann Carr.
William currently teaches guitar at GuitarSounds studios (
www.williamwilson.net )
specializing in classical guitar as well as a variety of styles.
William Wilson began studying classical guitar at age nine. He
studied with guitarist Peter Pupping for 9 years giving his first
recital in 1994. He has attended master classes with Christopher
Parkening, Scott Tennant and Anisa Angorola. William attended San
Diego State University, graduating Summa cum Laude in May 2001 with
a degree in music performance. He was selected as Outstanding Student
of his graduating class. During his time at SDSU, William studied
with guitarist Fred Benedetti for five years.
